The XCR 32 LO R AIR is SR SUNTOUR's first offering of an air sprung fork in our XC category of suspension forks. It features externally adjustable rebound, and air spring for a more precise set up and a hydraulic lockout that can be used on the fly.
Considering this, is Suntour XCR air good?
5.0 out of 5 stars Smooth Riding Ahead. Excellent fork, saved a few ounces from the factory one. Very smooth ride and takes a beating. I don't do any hardcore trails but do ride off road quite a bit and for a big guy (260lbs) this shock works perfectly!
Also, are Suntour forks bad? The Suntour XCT fork comes on most entry level frames, and on a little more expensive ones, the XCM is standard. Are they honestly that bad for a beginner? They are for "leisure cross country" riding. They are utterly terrible and I honestly think you'd be better off learning on a rigid fork.
Also asked, what is the difference between Suntour XCM and Xcr?
Registered. XCR is really similar to the XCM but is a lighter build, which, given the coil, functionally makes them very close. The XCT is almost a hybrid fork. The build is much less dialed, and it isn't really meant for riding where the front wheel spends much time off the ground.
How good are Suntour forks?
The higher-level Suntour forks and shocks are very good. Don't judge them by the bottom budget forks. I'd actually put them up there with Fox and RS on quality. Move along, nothing to see here.

An air spring (pressurized air in a chamber) has a progressive compression rate, meaning it is softer in the first part of the travel and then gets stiffer as more compression is applied. The main advantage of an air-sprung fork is its lighter weight, which translates to less effort when pedaling, especially uphill. Can you put a tapered fork on a non tapered frame?

It's simply the initial compression of the internal spring in the fork. The more it's compressed, the stiffer the fork will feel. Bigger preload compresses the spring more, and so it's best for heavier riders and/or people who need/prefer the stiffer ride (racers etc.)Which SunTour fork do I have?

Preload is used to adjust the shock or spring to the correct range of operation within the suspension's travel-more preload will raise the bike up on its suspension, keeping you near the top of its travel. With less preload, the bike sits lower and closer to the bottom of its suspension travel. What forks will fit my bike?
The main thing you need to look for is the steerer size. Most Mtb headtube is 1.1/8", a few are 1.5" or the combo of the two, tapered steerer. So as long as the fork is 1.1/8" you are good to go.How do you lock a SunTour fork?

All SR SUNTOUR forks are lubricated from our factory using proprietary grease. This grease can break down over time and have an oil-like appearance. A lockout is a small switch placed atop the front right stanchion of your mountain bike's suspension which when engaged decreases the low speed compression rate of the front fork, adjustable to the point of being fully rigid. How do you adjust the rebound on a suntour?
rebound damping allows you to adjust the speed with which the fork rebounds after it was compressed. Turn the adjusting screw counter-clockwise (- / less damping) to increase the extension (rebound) speed of your fork.
